We are currently recruiting for a project that should start right after Thanksgiving.  It will interview on Monday and should start 11/30.  We expect it to run about a month though it could certainly go longer.  It is an online document review project that will involve 40 to 50 hours per week Monday through Friday.  Pay is $35 per hour flat.

Requirements - US Admission 3+ Years of experience as an associate from a large or medium sized law firm handling litigation matters – OR – 3+ years of experience as an associate handling non-litigation matters and 1 year plus of experience working on document review. More experience is a plus Patent experience is a plus

Volunteer Attorney Position in Law Reform Project

MFY seeks a volunteer attorney to work in its Adult Home Advocacy Project for 6 months to 1 year, either full-time or part-time. MFY has been at the forefront of litigation and advocacy on behalf of individuals with disabilities who live in adult homes, resulting in a recent landmark federal court decision holding that the State of New York has violated the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Rehabilitation Act by using large segregated adult homes in the administration of New York’s mental health system. The volunteer attorney will be part of a three-attorney team  that does outreach to adult homes in the five boroughs of New York City, advises residents about their legal rights, represents adult home residents in individual matters; and litigates impact cases and class actions affecting the adult home community. The volunteer should possess excellent research and writing skills. Litigation experience and an interest in disability rights is a plus.

Assistant General Counsel

The Dormitory Authority of the State of New York provides fi nancing and construction services to public and private universities, not-for-profi t healthcare facilities, and other not-forprofit
institutions which serve the greater public good. We currently have a need for an Assistant General Counsel in our Albany, NY offi ce. Th is position will render legal advice and execute legal assignments of considerable diffi culty with respect to various aspects of the operations of the Authority with a focus on employment and labor law.

Responsibilities: ∙ Serve generally in a designated area of responsibility as a deputy to the Managing General Counsel, and has authority to act for the Managing General Counsel with respect to certain designated areas of responsibility in his/her absence; also has authority to act for the General Counsel in his/her absence when designated by him/her to do so. ∙ Represent the Authority or coordinate and direct outside counsel, including the Attorney General’s Offi ce, in connection with administrative proceedings and litigation in which the Authority is involved. ∙ Participate, on behalf of the Authority, in the collective bargaining process, including the development of proposals and the negotiation of collective bargaining agreements; interpret collective bargaining agreements both within and outside the grievance process; and provide legal advice to management concerning the application of federal, state and local employment laws.


Minimum Qualifications:
Juris Doctor, admitted and in good standing to practice law in New York State; plus nine years of relevant experience in the practice of law subsequent to admission to the Bar including labor and/or employment law experience.


Preferred Qualifications:
Juris Doctor, admitted and in good standing to practice law in New York State; plus demonstrated nine to ten years of relevant experience in the fi elds of labor and employment law subsequent to admission to the Bar, preferably working in the public sector or representing public sector clients. Candidate should have knowledge of and experience in one or more of the following areas: (a) rendering advice and representing clients in collective bargaining agreement negotiations, grievances, arbitrations, improper practices, managerial and confi dential title designations, and other employer/employee matters; (b) rendering advice on the implementation of applicable federal laws, including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 as amended by the Civil Rights Act of 1991, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, and the Fair Credit Reporting Act; (c) rendering advice on the implementation of applicable New York State Laws, including the Human Rights Law, the Taylor Law, the Workers Compensation Law, the Labor Law including the Unemployment Insurance Program, the Civil Service Law, the Public Employee Safety and Health Act and the Public Offi cer’s Law; (d) handling and/or monitoring labor and employment related litigation.

For almost two decades, Mercy Center has intervened in the lives of women and their families and helped them move from isolation to connectedness, poverty to economic self-sufficiency, despair to hopefulness, and violent and oppressive family dynamics to healthy, respectful and mutually enriching relationships. For over 5 years, Mercy Center has had a lawyer volunteering twice a week to assist Center participants and their families with their legal problems. Mercy Center is seeking a part time volunteer to join this lawyer. Participants’ legal issues involve domestic relations, immigration, consumer credit, and housing, among others. While experience in some of these areas of law and Spanish language ability is helpful, it is not required. The Center is seeking a volunteer who can commit to 2 full days a week and who has the flexibility to go to court with a client on a different day if necessary. The Center’s current volunteer is available to provide training and mentorship as needed. The Mercy Center is easily accessible by the 2, 5 and 6 subway lines.

Prestigious financial institution is seeking a Compliance professional to work on a temporary basis in their Manhattan office. Candidate will work in company’s Compliance Testing Group. The role will involve creating and executing detailed testing work programs to assess compliance with regulations and firm policies. This role will work closely with compliance and business management.
